  We did have a great 5days on the river on this boat BUT it required much more than the 3 hours cleaning that we did to get by for those 5 days. A shame I didn't read the reviews before we boarded! Hopefully the maintenance & cleanliness report we provided when we returned will be addressed.

  A disastrous houseboat experience.
  
  Have to say my recent houseboat experience ended in disaster before it began. Hired Takeme 2 houseboat run by Mick Janz for a four night adventure from Mannum last Monday. Well, having turned up at Mick’s place where the houseboat is moored, he pleasantly welcomed my family and told us to put all our gear on the boat while he arranged for Roland, his hired help to come and show us over the boat and get us going. While waiting for Roland, I noticed that the boat had a significant list to the port side. Having questioned this to Mick, he told me that it it quite normal for pontoons to get punctured while pulling up to the river edge and it shouldn’t be a concern.
  
  Having had our tour of the houseboat by Roland, it was time to get things moving, so we moved over to the control panel and Roland pressed the button to start the motors. But nothing happened! 'Hang on' he said, I’ll just go down the back and check the generator and batteries. He comes back down to the front of the boat to announce 'we've got a major problem'. Turns out that the generator housing bay under the back deck is mostly under about 500 litres of water with the batteries completely submerged and dead. The wires on the solenoids were burnt off and so the electrician was called.
  
  So, three and a half hours later after pumping out the water, pressure spraying all the silt off the generator, rewiring the solenoids, it turns out that the pump that supplies river water to the boat won't work because it has been under water for a while. Can't be fixed and can't get a replacement. Consequently, me and my family packed everything back into the car and we returned to Adelaide all extremely disappointed with the situation.
  
  What makes me really annoyed is that the boat was moored there for a week before we were to depart and you let a family arrive, get them to load all the gear onto the boat and then decide to check if the damn thing will start. A complete disaster and ruined holiday which has put me off hiring a houseboat again.

  Amazing trip the house boat is very clean and tidy, i love the Murray River. had an great little get away.
